It’s an exciting time for protected bike lanes in Minneapolis as the bicycle master plan is being updated to include these facilities and Mayor Hodges has allocated $750,000 for this type of infrastructure. A recent study of five protected bike lanes constructed through the Green Lane Project, gives a preview of benefits we might expect from the soon-to-be constructed Washington Avenue protected bike lane and future projects.Read more
Dr. Harry Hull is a retired Senior Physician for the Health Department. He spoke in support of Bikeways for Everyone at the kick-off event on April 30th, 2014.
He identified two major causes for health issues: Eating too much and not getting enough exercise.
“Bicycling is a solution to not getting enough exercise. The key to getting people on their bicycles is making it safer and making it feel safer,” he said.
